FAFSA

Deadlines per college will vary (check your college portals).
Federal Deadline : June 30, 2018
NOTE:
-Unlike prior years, FAFSA 2017-18 registration opens on October 1, 2016 this year.
-Usually, colleges require FAFSA by March 2nd.
-1-2 hours to complete.
What you'll need :
  • Your Social Security number
  • Your Alien Registration Number (if you aren’t a U.S. citizen)
  • Your 2015 federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned (Note: If you’re eligible, you can transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
  • Bank statements and records of your investments (if applicable)
  • Records of your untaxed income (if applicable)
  • An FSA ID to sign electronically (If you don’t already have one, create one at the Federal Student Aid website.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Recommendations:
- FAFSA can get confusing, therefore having someone with experience is recommended (counselors/teacher).
- Getting FAFSA done ahead of time will give you more time to work on supplements. 
-IF SCHOOLS DO NOT FULLY MEET YOUR FINANCIAL NEED DO NOT BE AFRAID TO FILE AN APPEAL LETTER OR CONTACT THE SCHOOL DIRECTLY. (They will give you more money!)
